Swift Fox Farms Staff
Swift Fox Farms, established 2023.
We’re a small family hobby farm, and I’m a life-long teacher and lover of learning! I am deeply grateful for the gifts of food, flowers, and gathered gifts that a homestead gives- but I am most grateful for the life lessons that there are to learn when being outside, observing the seasons, and connecting with the natural world.
We’ve created a space for learning, play and exploration, in the open air with wide views of the Bitterroot Valley. I am excited to bring my love of the outdoors and my experience as a teacher and a camp director together, and teach and share what I love the most.
Katie Wyskiver, Owner and Director
I’m a certified K-12 Montana teacher. I earned my B.A. degree at Ohio University, and continued to earn my M.A. and teaching certificate at the University of Montana. I’ve been teaching in Western Montana since 2007, working with students of all ages- from preschool through university.
Teaching is my calling, and I do it best outdoors! I’ve spent the past 10 summers volunteering as a teacher, and then director, at a non-profit week-long, overnight camp. I’ve also learned so much in my experience with preschool and summer camps at Sweet Pea Outdoor School in Kalispell, MT. Being outdoors connects us with one another and the living world all around. It opens all our five senses, along with our hearts- and there is something so special about exploring, learning and having fun under our incredible big sky.
My husband and I have lived in and around the Missoula and Bitterroot Valleys since 2007, before moving to Stevensville in 2019. It has been a pure joy to become a part of this community, for us, our daughter and son. I am so grateful to call this valley home and to strengthen my roots with all who do, too.
Jessica Lund, Teacher
My name is Jessica and I was born and raised here in the Bitterroot, where I am now raising my 4 beautiful children with my husband. We get out on trails, lakes, and adventures as often as we can. During the school year I teach the Early Literacy Program (PreK) at Stevensville Elementary. I received my BS in Elementary Education P-3rd grade through The University of Montana Western. I have a passion for teaching at the foundational level and facilitating a positive and exciting introduction to school! So much happens in these early stages of school and development and it's such a privilege to teach children at that stage in their lives. It's been such a blessing to combine my passion for teaching littles and my deep love of nature with Katie at Swift Fox Farms!
Summer Staff
When hiring high school or university students to help with our camps, we always make it a priority to work with high school or university students who have not only demonstrated a passion, commitment to, or experience with younger children and outdoor/camp settings, but also hope to work with kids, education, or outdoor programming in their future careers. If you’re curious what pedagogy and expectations we share with summer staff, feel free to take a look here: Swift Fox Farms Outdoor Programs Employee Agreements and Expectations.
